It hasn't even been a week since <b><i>Dr Derek Shepherd</i></b>’s final Grey’s Anatomy episode aired in the US, but fans of the medical drama are already campaigning to bring him back.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In one of the show’s most shocking episodes ever, Derek’s wife Meredith was seen taking the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support machine after he was involved in a catastrophic car crash.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Viewers were horrified by the turn of events, particularly as Derek, who is known as <b><u>McDreamy</u></b>, is one of the show’s most loved characters.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One dedicated fan was so incensed that she starting a petition to bring the doctor back from the dead and it’s already received over 15,000 signatures.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The petition, which was set up on Change.org, asks the show’s creator <b><u>Shonda Rhimes</u></b> to re-write the event as a dream or hallucination.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
‘Why Shonda, why?’ writes a very angry <b><u>Courtney Williams</u></b>. ‘You cannot have people invest a DECADE into a character and then you just terminate them like that!’</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
‘You’ve destroyed us. COMPLETELY! Why would you do us like this? Dedicated and die-hard fans! We DO NOT deserve this!’</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Courtney even asks 45-year-old Shonda how she sleeps at night.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yikes, we wonder if she was expecting quite such a strong backlash?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Patrick, who starred on Grey’s Anatomy for 11 years, recently admitted that the executive producer was concerned about how fans would respond to Derek’s exit.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
‘The fans care deeply,’ he told Entertainment Weekly. ‘I think Shonda cares deeply about the fans and how they will react.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
‘Shepherd is a beloved character. People don’t want to lose him. He’s been in their lives for over 10 years.’</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Judging by the amount of signatures on the petition, there are many fans who aren’t ready to let go of him just yet.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grey’s Anatomy killed off Patrick Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd on Thursday night, and one fan launched a petition on Change.org in an effort to bring McDreamy back. “It’s like you’ve killed the President of Grey’s Anatomy!” petition creator Courtney Williams wrote. “<u><b>YOU HAVE TO BRING DEREK BACK! NOW! IMMEDIATELY!</b></u>”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bad news for Williams and the 4,268 (and counting) who’ve signed the petition: He’s not coming back—but Dempsey, who spoke to EW about leaving the show, understands why the fans are upset. “I think any time an original cast member has left, there’s always a void that will never be filled,” he said. “Shepherd is a beloved character. People don’t want to lose him. He’s been in their lives for over 10 years. But it goes on, and it will evolve.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The petition writer suggests showrunner Shonda Rhimes make the episode where he dies a “dreamt one” or “a hallucination.” “You do NOT get to toy with our lives and emotions like this Shonda, NO! That is NOT RIGHT! How do you sleep at night?!?!!”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Read the whole petition over at Change.org, and tune in to Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC to watch how the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial grieve.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><i>Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd</i></b> won't rest in peace if die-hard <u><b>Grey's Anatomy</b></u> fans have their way.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
More than 70,000 viewers have signed a Change.org petition to have writers of ABC's medical drama bring back Patrick Dempsey's beloved character who was killed off in a stunning episode last Thursday night.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"You cannot have people invest a decade into a character and then you just terminate them like that!" writes petition creator Courtney Williams in an open letter to Grey's Anatomy showrunner and writer Shonda Rhimes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Why would you do us like this? Dedicated and die-hard fans! We DO NOT deserve this!" </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Williams's comments echo the feelings of thousands of fans who turned to ABC's official Grey's Anatomy Facebook page to express their rage after Shepard died after being blindsided by a truck.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It happened after the heroic physician stopped to care for victims of a horrific car crash.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The poetic irony surrounding his death seems to have further enraged fans.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"You bring back his infamous words, 'It's a beautiful day to save lives,' have him wrap a girl's intestines in dry cleaning wrap then kill him off like that!" rants Williams. "You do not DO THIS TO LOYAL FANS!" she added.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rhimes hints at more surprises</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Williams suggests that Grey's Anatomy's "brilliant" writers could right the situation by making the pivotal events of the episode all a dream.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Shonda Rhimes</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grey's Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes created the popular medical drama in 2005.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rhimes, who created the show in 2005, hasn't publicly responded to demands to bring Dr. McDreamy back to life. But in a statement published by the Hollywood Reporter, Rhimes hinted that there would be more surprises in the show's upcoming episodes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The possibilities for what may come are endless," she wrote. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As for Dempsey, the American actor and race car driver who inhabited the character for 11 seasons, he still had one season left on his contract when Derek was killed off.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
McDreamy's death seems to have come as a bit of a surprise to the 49-year-old actor.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It just kind of happened," Dempsey told Entertainment Weekly. "[Being written off] was something that was kind of surprising and uh, just naturally came to be."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I like the way it has all played out," he added.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There were rumours that Dempsey, who had recently taken a six month hiatus from the show, was written off over friction with Rhimes, but Dempsey said he was leaving the show in a good place with his fellow actors.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When asked specifically if that was also true with Rhimes, Dempsey simply said "Yes."</div>

<h3>
<span style="color: #990000;"><b><i>Patrick Dempsey</i></b> fired due to Shonda Rhimes' feud or affair with 'grey's' intern? Why Derek Shepherd's death was a surprise to cast.</span></h3>
<br />
<u>Patrick Dempsey's exit from Grey's Anatomy </u>was sudden, even his fellow cast members didn't know what happened in advance. Is this another sign that <i><b>S</b></i><b><i>honda Rhimes</i></b> abruptly fired Dempsey, bringing to Derek Shepherd's death ahead of the Season 11 finale? And did Dempsey's rumored feud with Rhimes really start from scratch his alleged affair by having an intern?<br />
<br />
Was <u><i>Patrick Dempsey</i></u> fired from <i><b>Grey's Anatomy</b></i> by <b><u>Shonda Rhimes</u></b>? Whatever happened between your actor who played Derek Shepherd as well as the Grey’s creator came being a surprise on the other actors. James Pickens Jr., one in the few original cast members still around the series, admitted now he had no clue <span style="color: blue;"><b><u><i>McDreamy</i></u></b></span> would die.<br />
<br />
“We didn't know a whole lot. It was kind of around the fly,” Pickens told <b>ABC News</b> immediately. “So whatever information we have, we just about got it kind of right before it happened.”<br />
<br />
Derek Shepherd was shockingly wiped out in a car crash ahead of the Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 finale. While Patrick Dempsey had expressed a desire to eventually leave the show, McDreamy’s death gave the impression to come out of nowhere. Dempsey had even signed a legal contract to appear in Season 12. So many speculated that Shonda Rhimes actually fired Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy.<br />
<br />
Even before <b><u>Derek Shepherd died</u></b>, reports swirled that Dempsey’s exit was imminent as a consequence of his diva behavior on-set. And Rhimes is recognized for getting rid of troublesome cast members for my child various shows.<br />
<br />
There’s even unconfirmed reports that Dempsey was fired for having an affair by having an intern on-set. The original story on his alleged cheating has since been deleted coming from a tabloid website. But several anonymous commenters who come in the know say the rumors are true.<br />
<br />
Still, despite Patrick Dempsey's rumored firing, the opposite cast members are showing no ill will towards their former co-star.<br />
<br />
“Obviously, Grey’s wouldn’t have been Grey’s without him,” Pickens Jr. added. “He was this kind of integral a part of that. He's a very, very talented guy. His character is becoming iconic. I mean, it's portion of the lexicon of TV.”<br />
<br />
Another Grey’s Anatomy star, Sarah Drew, told E! News now that she was happy about Dempsey’s new opportunities. “We're sad to say goodbye to Patrick but we're so happy for him,” she said. “If you follow him on Twitter you will know he's enjoying time together with his kids and he's racing and he's having a ball. So we're so happy for him to advance on.”<br />

<br />
Indeed, Patrick Dempsey has got more associated with his racing career now that he's supposedly been fired from Grey's Anatomy. While he may not quit acting permanently, he’s clearly enjoying his new leisure time. So he likely does not have any plans to resume Grey’s soon, particularly when he is feuding with Shonda Rhimes. But only time will state if fans could keep watching the show the coming year without McDreamy.<br />

Mad about McDreamy! Grey's Anatomy fans underwent another box of tissues inside two-hour episode "She's Leaving Home (Part 2)" following Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) death on Thursday, April 30. But it ends up, they weren't just upset about his funeral. Viewers were disappointed in how a ABC medical drama handled the aftermath, which (spoiler!) jumped almost a year to reveal that Meredith Grey (<i><u>Ellen Pompeo</u></i>) was pregnant with his child.<br />
Die-hard viewers who've bound to the series for 11 seasons(!) particularly took issue with Shepherd's funeral that lasted a measly 10 minutes. Meredith was barely around in the first hour, plus it went from Easter to Christmas in a matter of 30 minutes. Some were so outraged they called out creator Shonda Rhimes' writing via Twitter.<br />
As for some of the episode's better moments? Grey's fans were moved (aka cried uncontrollably) by everyone's a reaction to Derek's tragic death. A cover of Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" — a staple inside the series — seemed to be used.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b><i>Derek Christopher Shepherd</i></b>, M.D., also called <u><b>"McDreamy"</b></u>, is a fictional surgeon in the <u><b><i>ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy</i></b></u>, portrayed by actor Patrick Dempsey. He made his first appearance during "A Hard Day's Night", which has been broadcast on March 27, 2005.<br />
<br />
Derek was married to Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh). He was happily married to longtime girlfriend Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) until his death. Derek was formerly the Chief of Surgery at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, but abruptly resigned as chief inside the seventh season following the shooting. For his portrayal of Derek, Dempsey was nominated in 2006 and 2007 Golden Globe to the Best Performance by an Actor inside a Television Series Drama to the role, and also the 2006 SAG Award for the Outstanding Performance by an Actor inside a Drama Series award.<br />
<br />
<b>Characterization</b><br />
<i>Shonda Rhimes</i> describes <b><u>Derek </u></b>as typical "<span style="color: blue;">Prince Charming</span>". He was planned to become doctor who doesn't really care about anything, who lives in their "own" universe and possesses a big sex appeal. A man that is charming, devilishly handsome as well as the type of guy every girl hopes for, as well as a man that always makes the wrong decisions, and it is often known as being a jerk or ultimate heartbreaker. Rhimes planned to possess this kind of character through the beginning, as he was the type of guy whom girls fall in love with and a character whose storylines could simply be changed. USA Today writer Robert Bianco said: "Derek could, sometimes, appear like two people, warm and funny about a minute, cold and self-involved the next. Dempsey's gift is at making those two sides seem like part of the same person, while keeping us rooting to the person being a whole."</div>
